Los Angeles Colon Cancer - Understanding the Basics

Los Angeles colon cancer
Los Angeles colon cancer affects the colon, rectum and, sometimes, the appendix. Of all the different forms of cancer today, this one is the third most common, and the second leading cause of death by cancer.

In the early stages of all types of colon cancer, polyps or cylindrical protrusions can be found in the colon and rectum. It is, however, almost impossible to observe initial symptoms of the condition, which can include tiny spots of blood in the stool or anemia. Usually, it is not until tumors have increased a lot in size that the more significant symptoms are felt, such as obstruction of the bowels or unexplained bowel movements. There are instances where the tumors have grown so large that they can actually be felt through the abdomen. In women, the tumors can affect the vagina and cause unusual discharges.

In advanced stages, the cancer starts to affect neighboring organs such as the liver, which then causes jaundice, or a yellow coloring of eyes and skin, as well as enlargement and pain in the abdominal area.
